Alleged court outburst spurs District Court case

NORTHAMPTON - A Marlborough man Monday pleaded not guilty to disrupting a court proceedings after an alleged outburst in a child support hearing.

Richard L. LaFrerrier, 26, was sentenced July 26 by Hampshire Probate and Family Court Judge Linda Fidnick to 30 days in jail for failing to make child support payments. The judge also ordered him to pay $1,500.

According to reports by court officers included in court files, LaFrerrier lashed out when Fidnick read the sentence, overturning a courtroom table, cursing the judge and struggling with officers who tried to put him in handcuffs.

LaFrerrier appeared Tuesday in Northampton District Court, where Judge W. Michael Goggins released him on his own recognizance and continued the case to Oct. 21.
