Amherst boys run to third at Guilderland Invitational

James Traester and Jesse Coull each finished in the top 10 to lead the Amherst Regional boys cross country team to a third-place finish in the Guilderland Invitational in Guilderland, N.Y.

The Hurricanes scored a total of 82 points, finishing behind only New York schools Burnt Hill (57 points) and Shenendehowa (81).

Traester was seventh overall with a time of 18 minutes, while Coull was 10th at 18:13. Dylan Wight (14th, 18:17), Gabe Fishman (14th, 18:34) and Steven Kalt (26th, 18:37) rounded out Amherst's top five.

Girls soccer

Wahconah 3, Hampshire Regional 0 - Brianna Weltlich and Kayla Labrecque combined for 18 saves as the Raiders fell to the Warriors in each team's season-opener Saturday in Westhampton.
