Northampton Lions Club Car Show Sunday
NORTHAMPTON - Rev it up, baby, and meet me at the malt shop.
A little bit of yesteryear, with a vision of the future - that's the theme of this year's Lions Club Car Show, held Sunday at the Three-County Fairgrounds. Automobiles a hundred years old will sparkle in the September sunshine alongside 2012 "green" models displayed by local dealers. Scott Barton, caretaker of the Lions' 1924 fire truck, will showcase his stable of brass cars, whose motors and radiators were all made of brass.
From classic cars to hot rods to race cars to Barracudas and Mustangs - there's something for everyone, as collectors from all over New England will converge upon Northampton with their painstakingly restored models. Also on tap is an award presented to the city's police and fire departments, as a way to honor those who perished on 9/11.
Show cars will roll through the gates starting at 8 a.m., with the public invited from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5, with proceeds going to the Lions Club's Sight and Hearing campaign, which helps those with vision and hearing problems. For more information, call Lions Club chairman Mike Cahillane at 210-8052.
