Jacksonville shuts out winless Minutemen

The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team outshot and outcornered Jacksonville, but couldn't outscore it as the Minutemen fell 2-0 in Florida on Sunday night.

The Dolphins had a goal in each half as UMass remained winless at 0-3. Shane Curran-Hays made one save for the Minutemen.

Field hockey

Iowa 3, UMass 0; Kent State 3, UMass 2 (OT) - Iowa proved to be a tough trip for the Minutewomen, who dropped two games to fall to 1-3 this season.

After losing 3-2 in overtime Saturday to Kent State, UMass was overpowered by the Hawkeyes, who outshot them 27-4. Alesha Widdall made 12 saves for the Minutewomen.

Christine Cutry and Nicole Cordero each scored a goal against the Golden Flashes.

Women's soccer

Bryant 4, UMass 1 - The Minutewomen's three-game unbeaten streak to open the 2011 season ended  as the Bulldogs dominated them Saturday in Amherst.

Senior Deanna Colarossi had the only goal for UMass (2-1-1).
