Northampton girls track wins western Massachusetts heptathlon
The Northampton girls track and field team placed first at the Western Massachusetts Heptathlon.
The event was held at Amherst Regional on Monday and Tuesday.
The Blue Devils earned 9,552 points. Mount Greylock was second with 9,384. Holyoke Catholic was third with 9,051.
Competing for Northampton were Adrienne Pascucci, Phoebe Hopkins, Anna Moore, Emma Larson, Galit Sarvet and Sage Loomis.
Hopkins won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 22.39 seconds. Larson was second and Pascucci was third.
Pascucci won the high jump at 4 feet, 11¾ inches.
Alisha Ciolek of Holyoke Catholic won the 100 hurdles in 16.23 seconds. Pascucci was second.
Ariana Quesnel of Ludlow won the individual title with 3,771 points.
Pascucci was second with 3,639 and Hopkins was third with 3,504.
Boys decathlon
The Amherst Regional boys track and field team placed fourth at the Western Massachusetts Decathlon, held Monday and Tuesday at Ludlow.
John Latour of Amherst won the shot put at 43-10¾ and discus at 135-11. Latour placed second individually with 5,489 points to Xavier Whitiker of Mohawk (6,005).
Brad Tremblay of Frontier Regional won the high jump at 5-10. He was also third with 5,449.
