Cathedral tops Amherst baseball in eighth
David Bohl hit a two-run single and Jay Lincoln batted in a run and walked twice for the Amherst Regional baseball team in a 4-3 eight-inning loss to Cathedral on Thursday at home.
Jared Freedman added two hits for the Hurricanes (12-8, 3-6 Valley).
Jason Hodgkins struck out three Panthers in four innings pitched and Mike Walkowicz struck out four in relief.
Granby 6, Gateway Regional 0 - Adam Majka pitched a gem for the Rams (18-2), throwing seven shutout innings allowing only two hits and one walk while tallying 10 strikeouts.
Dalton Remy went 2-for-3 and scored twice for Granby while Brendon Monaco and Andy Gifford each batted in one run.
James Edinger and Gabe Craig each had one hit for the Gators (9-9).
Mount Greylock 11, Holyoke Catholic 2 - The Gaels (6-13) allowed seven fifth-inning runs in the independent loss at Williamstown.
Jeff Laprade (two hits) drove in John Brown with one of Holyoke Catholic's runs, while Brian Malave's single knocked in Nate Thompson, who had doubled.
Mike Hagelstein took the loss on the mound for the Gaels.
Putnam 6, Smith Vocational 4 - Colton Delisle had a two-run single for the Vikings (7-13, 4-8 Tri County South) in the home loss.
Kyle Sheldon added two hits and one RBI for Smith Vocational in its last game of the season.
