UMass senior Cerie Mosgrove wins NCAA 3-point championship
Cerie Mosgrove's first shot of the second round hit the side of the backboard. After that, almost every shot the University of Massachusetts senior took fell in.
Mosgrove won the women's 3-point contest at the 23rd annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championship Thursday.
Mosgrove was in second place after the first round with 17 points. Mosgrove then set a record with 23 points in the second round. She made all five money balls to move into first place.
Shooting last in the final round, Mosgrove had 19 points with three money balls, easily surpassing Kelsey Bolte of Iowa State. Bolte had 11 points in the final.
Mosgrove had a chance to be the overall champ, but she missed her final shot in a matchup between the men's champ and the women's champ. Andrew Goudelock of the College of Charleston had 16 points to Mosgrove's 15.
