Thursday, September 2, 2010
CHELSEA (AP) - Chelsea is getting $2 million in federal stimulus money to reduce pollution from diesel exhaust.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is awarding the grants to the Chelsea Collaborative on Wednesday.
The largest portion will go the New England Produce Market, one of the nation's largest produce distribution centers, to reduce diesel emissions from idling trucks.
A second grant will go to retrofitting and upgrading diesel burning vehicles owned by the city, as well as any willing businesses.

Reducing emissions solution
There is a solution and it will work on every engine to reduce emissions. It doesn't require re-design of existing engines and it would actually potentially reduce the cost of the engine. It is called the Scuderi Engine (www.scuderiengine.com) and it was invented and developed by a family in W.Springfield and with the added expertise and manpower of an independent engineering research institute (SWRI) in Texas. Keep an eye on this name because once the engines are in vehicles there will be a reduction of emissions by as much as 80% or more and increase mileage (MPG) anywhere from 10% to 40% !! The most significant improvement will be in the diesel engine on the upper end of those numbers. IT is coming!! :-)
