WAMC report: Audio interviews with DA candidates Cahillane, Sullivan
NORTHAMPTON - WAMC's Paul Tuthill caught up with the two Democrats running for the Northwestern district attorney.
As there are no GOP contenders, the Sept. 14 primary will decide the election.
The post oversees all criminal cases in Hampshire and Franklin counties and for the Worcester County town of Athol. Current DA Elizabeth Scheibel is retiring after nearly two decades in office.

Debates ahead
The Gazette will host a debate between the two candidates Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. at JFK Middle School in Northampton. The debate will be broadcast live on Northampton Community Television. Readers can submit debate questions to newsroom@gazettenet.com.
Candidates including Cahillane and Sullivan will also answer audience questions at the annual "Know Your Town" candidates night at South Hadley Town Hall Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
And WWLP Channel 22 will broadcast a live Lincoln-Douglas-style debate Sept. 9 at 12:30 p.m.
