Dakin continues 'Save Lives Sale,' offers programs

SPRINGFIELD AND LEVERETT - Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society is continuing its Summer to Save Lives Sale through August. All kitten adoptions are $75, half off the regular adoption fee. Also, any adult cats one year and older are part of the certified pre-owned (fee-waived) adoption program. Adopters of the older cats are asked to make a donation in lieu of the standard fee.

Can't get to Dakin? Two off-site adoption events will be held this month. On Saturday, a kitten adoption will be held at Eastfield Mall in Springfield from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. And on Aug. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dakin will be at Hampshire Mall in Hadley with animals available for adoption.

Other shelter-related events:

* Aug. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., dog wash outdoors at Valley Veterinary Hospital, 320 Russell St. (Route 9) in Hadley. Dogs bathed for $15. Microchipping offered for $25. Dogs leashed, please. All proceeds benefit Dakin.

* Sarah Prall Photography is offering "Pet Portrait Experience," with a portion of the proceeds going to Dakin. For the month of August, 20 percent of all purchases will be donated to Dakin, courtesy of Sarah Prall. Call 835-1578 or go online www.sarahprall.com.
