Eddie Adams, longtime teacher

PATTAYA, Thailand - Edwin "Eddie" Adams, 63, formerly of Lakewood, Calif., and South Hadley, Mass., passed away on May 2, 2010, in Thailand after a courageous battle against cancer.

Born in Holyoke, Mass., he was the son of the late William R. Adams (1973) and Helen Adams (1990). Eddie was raised and educated in South Hadley and later graduated from Rider University. He had been employed since 1981 as a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Eddie was a passionate golfer, a tennis player and a part-time DJ.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Adams, and his former wife, Fan Meng, of San Marino, Calif.; a brother, William "Roddy" Adams and his wife, Sheila, of South Hadley; a niece, Sarah Adams; and several aunts, nephews and nieces. He will also be missed by his close friends, Debbie and Randy Hattery of Lakewood, and Rune Anderson of Thailand.

Calling hours for Eddie will be on Monday, Aug. 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the Ryder Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 3, at noon in St. Rose Cemetery in South Hadley.
