Helping hands: Chiropractor offers health care, strength training and more
YOUR NAME AND TITLE: Dr. Josef Arnould, director
BUSINESS NAME: Strength For Life Health and Fitness Center
LOCATION: Eastworks Building, 116 Pleasant St., first floor
CONTACT INFORMATION: 529-0700, www.strengthforlife.biz
NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES: four
YEARS IN BUSINESS: 26
DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCT/SERVICES: We provide chiropractic healthcare as well as guided strength training, cardiovascular fitness, and nutrition and weight loss.
WHO ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS: People of all ages who desire to be healthier.
HOW YOU GOT STARTED: I opened a chiropractic office in Northampton in 1984 and started a strength training facility to help people prevent and/or recovery from injuries. I moved the practice to Easthampton in 2008.
BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY: Joint stiffness and muscle weakness are the greatest enemies to being healthy as we age. Chiropractic care restores spinal flexibility and strength training reclaims the muscular power we need to be physically active throughout our entire lives. Combining these two disiplines allows us to enjoy and excel in our favorite activities for as long in life as possible.
FAVORITE ASPECT OF YOUR WORK: Seeing the glint in people's eyes when they smile and say they are feeling great and able to once again do what they enjoy doing most.
LEAST FAVORITE ASPECT: Seeing people who know they should exercise to be healthy but just cannot make the personal commitment to do so regularly.
ADVICE FOR NEW BUSINESSES: Open your business in the community where you want to live.
FUNNIEST EXPERIENCE: A patient who was 102 years old said to me, "I'd give anything to be 85 again."
