Devils roll in Orioles' first varsity game
Charlie Cronin got his senior season off to a roaring start with six goals and an assist as the Northampton boys lacrosse team defeated Belchertown 16-3 on Friday.
The host Orioles were playing in their first varsity contest after previously competing as a junior varsity squad.
The Blue Devils, meanwhile, are returning 11 seniors from last year's 11-8 squad and the difference in experience was obvious in the season opener for both teams.
Braeden Leinhart added three goals for Northampton, while Chris Warton (three assists) and Justin Golec each scored two.
Colin Sawula (one assist), Ray Chen and Connor Abbatessa each added one goal for the Blue Devils, and Pat Harrington and Keanu Burke had one assist apiece.
Arron Mercier made six saves in goal for Northampton.
Jamie Lepage, Chris Lamoureux and Douglas Lavallee scored the goals for the Orioles.
Belchertown goalie Ian Supek made 10 saves.
Boys volleyball
Belchertown 3, Ware 0 - The Orioles (2-0) continued their strong start with a 25-11, 25-14, 25-21 sweep at the Indians.
T.J. Leblanc led Belchertown with five aces and seven kills, James Law had four aces and six kills and Tyler Keefe added six aces.
