SOUTHAMPTON - Irene Stuart, 85, of Southampton died Sunday March 14, 2010 in Mercy Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born on May 14, 1924, in Northampton the daughter of the late William and Helena Hiltpold Wagner. She attended Easthampton schools. She was an avid golfer and former member of the Amherst Country Club. Irene was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Donald Stuart and her brother, Richard Wagner.

She is survived by a son, Randolph Stuart, and his wife Denise of West Dover, Vt.; two daughters, Donna Nelson and her husband Larry and Maurene Jarrett and her husband Ronald of Southampton; seven grandchildren, Wayne Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Sherri Laplante, Brian Jarrett, Heather Humber, Benjamin Stuart and Daniel Stuart; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Herman (Buddy) Wagner of Mississippi; a sister, Pauline Kudreyko of Arizona; and four nieces.

There will be no visiting time at the Mitchell Funeral Home of Easthampton. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
