Last-minute goal by Yale edges UMass

Matt Gibson scored with 34 seconds left to give Yale a 13-12 victory over the No. 12 University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse team Friday night in New Haven, Conn.

The Minutemen (2-1) scored three times in the final five minutes to tie the game before Gibson's goal.

The defeat ended a 45-game streak when UMass scored at least 11 goals and won.

Will Manny led the Minutemen with three goals, and Bobby Hayes added two goals and one assist.

Art Kell, Ryan Hantverk, Ryan Liebel and Christian Hain all had a goal and an assist for UMass, and Anthony Biscardi, Steve D'Amario and K.R. Jurgelevich each scored once.

Tim McCormack made 12 saves in goal for the Minutemen who were outshot 44-30 by the Bulldogs (2-0).
