Charlotte scored the first 11 points of the game and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts women's basketball team 85-51 in the regular-season finale Sunday afternoon in North Carolina.

The Minutewomen (11-18, 5-9 Atlantic 10) are the ninth seed in the conference tournament and will play No. 8 Richmond at noon Friday in the first round at Upper Marlboro, Md.

Megan Zullo scored 11 points with two assists to lead UMass on Sunday.

Jasmine Watson added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Minutewomen, who trailed 48-25 at halftime.
