William F. Mandeville, of Huntington

NORTHAMPTON - William F. Mandeville, 61, of Huntington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at the Northampton VA Medical Center.

Born Nov. 14, 1948, in Northampton, he was the son of Francis Mandeville of Florence and the late Eleanor (O'Brien) Mandeville.

He grew up in Florence and graduated from Northampton High School in 1966. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served proudly, having served as an electrician in the Air Force with tours in Turkey and Vietnam.

He was a long-standing member of the IBEW Local 7 of Springfield, working as a journeyman on numerous projects, locally, nationally and in Canada.

Known by his friends as "Broken Arrow," he enjoyed fishing and football and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 8006 in Florence.

Besides his father, he leaves his three sisters and their husbands, Bonnie and Stan Galenski, Kathy and Steve Quigley, and Lori and Bob Davis, all of Florence; several nieces and nephews; and his dearest friend, Elaine Young.

There will be a religious service Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Drozdal Funeral Home in Northampton, with burial with military honors in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the VA Medical Center, 421 Main St., Leeds, MA 01053, with checks payable to the VA with reference GPF#1009.
