Minutewomen lose in overtime
The University of Massachusetts women's basketball team rallied from an 11-point deficit in the second half but scored just three points in overtime and lost 63-54 at Duquesne in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Jasmine Watson, who had eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks, opened the overtime with a layup to give the Minutewomen (7-12, 1-3 Atlantic 10) a 53-51 lead, but the Dukes (14-5, 4-0 A-10) scored 12 of the last 13 points.
Kristina Danella led UMass with 18 points, including five-of-six from 3-point range, five rebounds and three steals.
Diatiema Hill contributed 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Minutewomen.
Nicole Jones tied a UMass single-game record with eight blocks, and added a team-high eight rebounds and five points.
The Minutewomen return home to host George Washington at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday on field trip day at the Mullins Center.
