EASTHAMPTON - Ruthiejane (Sanders) Drew, 67, of Pleasant Green passed away Dec. 28, 2009, at her home.

Born in Thompsonville, Conn., she was the daughter of the large John and Lois (Sanders) Fitzgerald. She was a member of the First Church of Northampton and a 1960 graduate of Northampton High School. Ruthiejane was a secretary and receptionist for 18 years at the University of Massachusetts in the Sports Academic Office and previously had worked as an EMT for the former Paramedic Ambulance in Northampton. She was an avid sports enthusiast and was a very proud grandmother to her grandson Zachary.

She leaves her husband of 46 years, George Drew; her son, Jason Drew of Easthampton and her grandson Zachary; a brother, Edward Fitzgerald and his wife Cynthia of Granby; two sisters, Patricia Erickson and her husband Stephen and Colleen Beaudin and her husband David, all of Florence; and several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Shawn Fitzgerald, predeceased her.

Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St., Easthampton. A funeral service will be held at the Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Zachary Drew Education Fund, c/o Florence Savings Bank, 85 Main St., Florence, MA 01062.
