Last-minute layup beats Minutewomen

Freshman Elena Delle Donne made a layup with 4.3 seconds remaining Wednesday night to give Delaware a 57-55 victory over the University of Massachusetts women's basketball team in Newark, Del.

Delle Donne scored a game-high 21 points and added 11 rebounds as the Blue Hens (8-3) won their sixth straight game and improved to 5-0 all-time against the Minutewomen.

Megan Zullo had 15 points, four rebounds and two assists for UMass, and Kristina Danella added 13 points, nine rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks.

The Minutewomen (6-7) had a six-point lead in the first half before falling behind 26-23 at halftime.

UMass returns home to play Maine at noon Sunday on Girl Scout Day at the Mullins Center.

Amherst 80, Lehman 37 - The second-ranked Jeffs (10-0) used an 18-3 run en route to a 43-20 lead at halftime at LeFrak Gymnasium.

Eleven players scored for Amherst, including four in double figures.

Shannon Finucane led the Jeffs with 13 points, followed by Jaclyn Daigneault with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block.

Sara Leyman (team-high seven rebounds) and Lem Atanga McCormick each scored 10 points for Amherst.
