Northampton - Mary (Cahillane) Crawley, 94, formerly of 18 Conz St., passed away Sunday, at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility.

Born in Killorglin, County Kerry, Ireland, on Aug. 16, 1915, Mary was the daughter of the late Stephen and Molly (Sheehan) Cahillane. She lived in Ireland before moving to England where she married her husband, Michael Crawley, in the summer of 1942. While living in England she worked for several years as a midwife.

Mary and Mike emigrated from England to the United States by boat in 1949. Upon arriving in Northampton, Mary worked as a nurse at the Rockridge Retirement Home and the Lathrop Home, both in Northampton, retiring in 1994.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Northampton for 60 years. She was the 1977 St. Patrick's Day Parade marshal from the city of Northampton. Mary was a member of the Northampton St. Patrick's Association and a member of the former St. Michael's Mr. & Mrs. Club. She was a longtime election day poll worker and enjoyed traveling to Ireland and England to visit family. Mary loved entertaining and hosting family from Ireland and England.

Mary is survived by her husband of 67 years, Michael Crawley; her children, Teresa Maginnis and her husband, William, of Northampton, Joseph Crawley and his wife, Jackie, of West Springfield, Anne Brown and her husband, Myles, of Swampscott, Shaun Crawley and his wife, Connie, of Fayetteville, Ga., and Alice Siobhan O'Brien and her husband, Roger, of Florence; her son-in law, William Brandt of Northampton; her sister, Tess Collins of Florence; as well as her 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Maura Brandt; her brothers, former Mayor of Northampton Jim Cahillane, Stephen Cahillane, John Cahillane, Thomas Cahillane, Patrick Cahillane and Michael Cahillane; and her sisters, Nonie Stramese and Siobhan O'Leary.

Mary's funeral will be Thursday morning at 9 a.m. from the Ahearn Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Crawley family would like to thank the staff of Linda Manor Forestview unit for the care and compassion they showed to their mother during her time there.
