Charles Slattery, 72, Navy veteran
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Charles R. "Ted" Slattery, 72, passed away on Nov. 10, 2009.
He was born in Northampton, Mass., to the late Helen (Emrick) Slattery and James P. Slattery Sr. He was predeceased by two brothers, John F. Slattery and Robert W. Slattery; and one sister, Ann L. Moore. He is survived by his wife, Anna Mane (Hodgkins) Slattery; two sons, Stephen David Slattery of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Scott Richard Slattery of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Hewitt, and son-in-law, Randall Hewitt of Virginia Beach, Va., and former daughter-in-law Dora Slattery of Virginia Beach; three granddaughters, Kelly Ann Slattery of Colorado Springs, Colo., Amanda Michelle and Melissa Marie Hewitt of Virginia Beach; one brother, James P. Slattery Jr., of Beaufort, S.C., and two sisters, Rosemary Stone of Southampton, Mass., and Jean M. Longe of West Springfield, Mass.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service as a chief petty officer. He also retired from Farm Fresh as a meat cutter. A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at Hollomon Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, Virginia Beach, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
