Two arrested in armed robbery at Easthampton rooming house

EASTHAMPTON - Two Northampton men are in custody this morning after police say they took part in an armed robbery Monday evening at a Pleasant Street rooming house.

David M. Malley, 19, of 942 Bridge Road and Pedro J. Baez, 19, of 73 Barrett St. unit 6203 face charges of home invasion armed with a firearm and larceny over $250.

A resident of the 143 Pleasant St. building called police at 5:28 p.m. Monday to report that the men had just exposed a "large, black handgun" and took an undisclosed amount of cash and possessions from his apartment, according to Police Chief Bruce McMahon.

Northampton and state police made the arrests in Northampton after obtaining search warrants, McMahon said.

Police would not say Tuesday morning how much money or what possessions the men took.

Easthampton officers were still compiling a description of the details of the allegations for court arraignments today.
