Boehm nets winner for UMass in OT

David Boehm scored after two minutes, five seconds of overtime to give the University of Massachusetts hockey team a 4-3 win over New Hampshire at the Mullins Center Friday night.

Casey Wellman tied the game for the 14th-ranked Minutemen (7-1, 4-1 Hockey East) with 11 seconds to play.

UMass goaltender Paul Dainton made a career-high 42 saves.

UMass took a 2-0 lead on first-period goals by Michael Lecomte and Justin Braun.

The Wildcats (2-6-2, 2-2-1 Hockey East) tied the game in the second period on scores by Steve Moses and Peter Leblanc.

Bobby Butler put New Hampshire ahead 3-2 on a goal 1:19 into the third period.

The Minutemen pulled Dainton to create pressure in their offensive zone with under a minute to play. Wellman, who was alone at the top of the crease, picked up a loose puck and tied the game.

Boehm's game winner came on a wrist shot from just inside the blue line.

The teams will play again at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Mullins Center.
