Dorothy Omasta, lifelong Brattleboro resident
Brattleboro, Vt. - Dorothy A. Omasta of Chestnut Street, Brattleboro, entered eternal glory on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Pine Heights Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1934, in Brattleboro, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Anna Y. Omasta. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Brattleboro High School, class of 1953.
Dorothy served for 25 years as registrar of the Windham County Probate Court, District of Marlboro, under Judge Ralph Chapman and Judge Robert Pu, retiring in 1999. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brattleboro.
Dorothy was predeceased by a brother, George P. Omasta, who died in 1967.
She leaves sister-in-law, Constance H. Omasta, of Brattleboro, and several cousins in the Northeast.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at 1 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 161 Western Ave., Brattleboro, with the Rev. Kari Keyl officiating. A reception will follow in the Pine Room at the church. A graveside committal service will take place at the Omasta family plot in Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield, Mass., Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., officiated by her cousin, the Rev. Stephen R. Brusco of Gilsum, N.H.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 161 Western Ave., or Pine Heights Nursing Home, 187 Oak Grove Ave., both in Brattleboro, VT 05301.
