The Falltown String Band, a loose network of community-minded musicians who've performed together for more than two decades, have a repertoire that draws from North American traditions such as Quebecois, Celtic-American, Appalachian, New Orleans Jazz, New England Country Dance and more.. They'll appear at the Rendezvous in Turners Falls tonight at 7:30 p.m., joined by special guest jazz fiddler Kenny Butler.

"High Country Lo-Fi" finds friends Jeffrey Foucault, David "Goody" Goodrich, Kris Delmhorst and other guests getting together for casual performances of classic country songs, at the Rendezvous in Turners Falls on Friday at 9 p.m.

The Lonesome Brothers, built from the long musical friendship of singer-songwriters Jim Armenti and Ray Mason, have been making their "hick rock" for more than 20 years now. Joined by drummer Tom Shea, the trio will make you happy, whether you want to marvel at the great songs or just jump on the dance floor. The Lonesomes play the full night at the Brass Cat in Easthampton on Saturday at 9 p.m.

Golden Bloom and The True Jacqueline team up for a fun night: each act will play its own set, then combine to geek out for one of their shared loves: the 1978 debut album by The Cars, which the superband will perform in its entirety. At the Basement on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Gordon Gano, frontman of the Violent Femmes and one of college rock's most recognizable voices, performs with his new backing band The Ryans at the Iron Horse on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Fancy Trash, who just finished their new album "For the Kids," open the evening.
