Katie Kelly scored three goals to lead the 19th-ranked University of Massachusetts field hockey team to a 6-0 win over West Chester Sunday at Garber Field, and into the Atlantic 10 Tournament next weekend in Amherst.

With two wins over the weekend the Minutewomen (12-8, 3-3 A-10) qualified as the fourth seed in the tournament and will face No. 1 Richmond (11-8, 5-1 A-10) in the first semifinal at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Garber Field.

No. 2 Saint Joseph's (7-10, 4-2 A-10) will play No. 3 Temple (8-11, 4-2 A-10) in the second semifinal at 3 p.m. Friday. The winners will advance to the championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday at Garber Field.

Kim Young scored 14 seconds into Sunday's game to give Umass a 1-0 lead.

Makaela Potts (assist) and Cher King had the other goals for the Minutewomen.

Senior Sarah Williams, who was playing in her last regular-season game at Garber Field, started in goal for UMass and made one save in 19 minutes, one second. Alesha Widdall relieved her and made four saves for the Minutewomen's eighth shutout of the season.

Bowdoin 3, Amherst 0 - The 12th-ranked Polar Bears (10-5) eliminated the 15th-ranked Jeffs (11-4) in the quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament Sunday in Amherst.

Emily Vitale made five saves in goal for Amherst, which was outshot 12-4,

Mount Holyoke 2, Clark 0 - Sophomore Jess Fajardo of Amherst scored her fourth goal of the season for the sixth-seeded Lyons (10-7) who upset the No. 3 Cougars (9-7) in the quarterfinals of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday in Worcester.

Shara Robertson scored the first goal for Mount Holyoke, which had a 5-4 advantage in shots.

Katie Gibson had two saves in goal for the Lyons to earn her fifth shutout of the season.

Mount Holyoke faces No. 2 MIT at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wellesley in the tournament semifinals.
