To the editor:

We are writing to voice our support for Maureen Carney, Ward 1 City Councilor.

Maureen is one of our most progressive-thinking councilors. While she is diplomatic in her approach, she also isn't afraid to stand up for the things she believes in.

Most notably, she is a strong advocate for the constitutional rights of all citizens, vocally supporting First Amendment rights, even when it means being the lone representative to do so.

She is a passionate advocate for all of the residents of Northampton by strongly supporting cultural diversity and the natural beauty of our town and has proven this with her votes. Thus far, she has been a great councilor and in these challenging times, we need her rational, community-based leadership.

We strongly support Maureen and hope you will too.
