Owls edge Minutewomen in 2 OT
Bridget Settles scored after three minutes, 45 seconds of the second overtime to give the Temple field hockey team a 2-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts Sunday in Philadelphia.
It was the second straight loss for the 10th-ranked Minutewomen (9-6, 0-2 Atlantic 10) who fell 3-0 to Saint Joseph's on Friday.
Makaela Potts gave UMass a 1-0 lead Sunday with a goal at 40:03. The Owls (5-10, 1-1 A-10) tied the game 9½ minutes later.
Alesha Widdall made seven saves in goal for the Minutewomen.
UMass hosts Richmond at 3 p,m. Friday at Garber Field.
Mount Holyoke 3, Hendrix 0 - Shara Robertson scored twice and Tricia Chase had the other goal for the Lyons (8-5, 3-3 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference) who won Sunday in New Canaan, Conn.
Melissa Hartley assisted on all three goals for Mount Holyoke.
Katie Gibson made two saves in goal for the Lyons.
Amherst 4, Colby 1 - Molly Malloy scored two goals for the Jeffs (9-3, 4-3 New England Small College Athletic Conference) who won Saturday in Waterville, Maine.
Katie McMahon had a goal and an assist for Amherst, and Elizabeth Schink also scored.
Emily Vitale made seven saves in goal for the Jeffs had a 19-12 advantage in shots.
MIT 3, Smith 1 - Nomindari Goulden scored for the Pioneers (3-9, 0-5 NEWMAC) who lost Saturday in Enfield, Conn.
Margaret Winter made 16 saves in goal for Smith, which was outshot 23-9.
Becker College 7, Elms College 0 - Senior forward Tomie Lafond of Hatfield had five shots to lead the Blazers (3-10, 2-4 New England Collegiate Conference) who lost Saturday in Chicopee.
