Senate candidates report fundraising totals; Coakley leads pack, topping $2 million raised

BOSTON (AP) - Democratic Senate candidate Martha Coakley has outpaced all of her political rivals by raising over $2 million for her campaign to succeed the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.

The attorney general more than doubled the $1 million goal she announced when she declared her candidacy early last month.

First-time political candidate Alan Khazei also performed well. He says he has raised over $1 million in his bid to succeed the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Rep. Michael Capuano says he has raised $300,000, while the other Democrat running, Boston Celtics co-owner Stephen Pagliuca has millions in personal funds and raised over $200,000.

The party primaries to succeed Kennedy are on Dec. 8.
