Police investigate death in Northampton Meadows
NORTHAMPTON - Police this morning are investigating the death of a man living at a campsite in the Hockanum Meadows near Interstate 91 and the Connecticut River Oxbow.
An officer at the scene said the man appears to have died in his sleep of natural causes. The deceased man's name has not been released.
Northampton Dispatch about 10:20 a.m. today received a call reporting a man near Old Springfield Road who wasn't breathing.
Emergency responders had trouble accessing the area via the Meadows because rains and farm work had made the dirt roads impassable to anything but four-wheel drive vehicles, according to scanner reports.
Northampton and state police investigators mounted their investigation from the side of Interstate 91 southbound, just past the exit 18 on-ramp.
