Roy, Tigers walk off with win
The South Hadley baseball team came from behind to beat visiting Central 4-3 in eight innings on Wednesday.
Matt Roy hit a walk-off single to score Sam Belsky as the Tigers (3-8) overcame a 3-2 deficit heading into the bottom of the eighth.
Jason Bourque led off the inning with a single and scored the tying run on an RBI double by Belsky (three hits).
Following an intentional walk of Connor Albert (one hit), James Mercer hit a sacrifice fly which advanced the runners to second and third and set up Roy's game-winning hit.
Pat Dragon (RBI) and Kyle Grumoli (two runs) each had two hits for South Hadley.
Kyle Callahan got the win on the mound. He allowed one run on two hits in two innings while striking out three.
T.J. Broderick started for the Tigers and gave up two earned runs on nine hits in six innings.
Chicopee 2, Northampton 0 - Jimmy Laizer pitched six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out seven in the loss for Northampton (6-6) on the road.
Sam Barron, Sam Goodwin-Boyd, and Casey Savino each had one hit for the Blue Devils.
Dean Tech 8, Granby 3 - Adam Majka had two of the Rams' six hits, while Kraig Burke (double) and Carl Danoff (single) each had an RBI in the loss.
Tim Gifford went the distance for Granby (9-2), allowing 10 hits while striking out four.
Smith Vocational 11, Pioneer Christian 4 - Mike Walkowicz blasted a two-run triple as part of a seven-run seventh to break the game open for the Vikings (4-9) in Springfield.
Andy Blair finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and Walkowicz and Joe Geary (two runs, one RBI) each went 2-for-4 for Smith Voke.
The game was tied 4-4 heading into the seventh.
Kyle Sheldon earned the win with four innings of relief work of Geary. He allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out three.
Sabis 9, Smith Academy 2 - The Falcons (5-8) fell behind early and lost on the road.
Joey O'Connell pitched the first three innings, allowing seven runs with three strikeouts and took the loss. He was relieved by Matt Sulda who threw three innings with four strikeouts.
Mike Molloy went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Chris LaRose (run, stolen base), Anthony Afflitto and Chris Sulda each went 1-for-3.
Greenfield 7, Easthampton 0 - Tim Cunningham, Jon Vershon, Kyle Phau, Peter Gilbert, Cory Lauchmen, and Kyle Decker all had hits for the Eagles (4-9, 8-3), but Easthampton could not string them together.
Vershon was the losing pitcher, allowing seven runs and nine hits with five strikeouts.
