Doris 'Dodie' Frew, longtime Goshen resident
GOSHEN - Doris E. "Dodie" (Papineau) Frew, 79, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.
Born in Chicopee on March 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alfred F. and Lillian V. (Prunier) Papineau. Dodie was a graduate of Chicopee High School and had lived in Goshen for most of her adult life. She previously worked at the Spaulding Co. in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, the Hosiery Plant in Florence and at Noble Manufacturing in Haydenville, but worked for many years doing child care and housekeeping for many area families. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed her weekly trips on the Hilltown Van going to the C.O.A. luncheons and out to do shopping.
Dodie was the wife of the late Miles H. Frew, who died in 1996, and sister of the late Fern Papineau and Ronald Papineau.
She is survived by her children, Robin Marsh and her husband, Tom, of Valrico, Fla., Myles Frew and his wife, Angelina, of Williamsburg, and Chantal West and her husband, David, of Goshen; one brother, Alfred Papineau of Goshen; three grandchildren, Trinity, Jacob and Lilly West; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Dodie will be on Friday, March 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road, Northampton. Burial will take place in the spring at a day and time to be determined.
