Minutewomen fall to Dukes

Despite 28 points scored by Stefanie Gerardot, the University of Massachusetts women's basketball team lost 75-61 to Duquesne Saturday afternoon at the Mullins Center.

After the Minutewomen (10-15, 3-7 Atlantic 10) took an early lead, the Dukes (15-10, 5-5 A-10) outscored UMass 16-3 at the end of the first half and beginning of the second.

The teams combined to shoot 0-for-13 on 3-pointers in the second half, and the Minutewomen finished just 3-for-16 (18.8 percent) from long range.

Sakera Young added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists for UMass.

The Minutewomen play at George Washington at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
