BU beats Minutewomen

Despite shooting a season-best 54.5 percent from the field, the University of Massachusetts women's basketball team lost 82-75 to Boston University Friday night at the Mullins Center.

The Minutewomen (6-7) shot 30-of-55, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range. They trailed 46-39 at halftime and could get no closer than two points in the second half.

Stefanie Gerardot led UMass with 23 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Diatiema Hill added a career-high 15 points for the Minutewomen, and Teya Wright contributed 10 rebounds and nine points.

The Terriers improved to 6-6.

UMass plays Boston College at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill.
