Laptops, iPod taken in North Amherst break-in
AMHERST - Police are searching for two men believed to be responsible for a break-in to a North Pleasant Street home in which four laptops and an iPod were stolen Tuesday morning.
The incident was reported at 10:42 a.m. after a University of Massachusetts student living at the home said she was awoken about 30 minutes earlier by a man inside her bedroom. She was the only one of five residents still at home at the time of the incident.
When the men realized the residence was occupied, they fled with the more than $4,000 worth of items, police said.
One man is described as white with strawberry blond hair, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and thin. The other man is described as Hispanic, 6 feet tall with a heavy build.
The home, which is a rental property near Puffton Village, was forcibly entered through a second floor rear window, police said.
