NORTH HAVEN, Conn. - Rosemary Mangels, 84, died on Sunday, July 27. She was born on May 2, 1924, in Easthampton, Mass., the daughter of Harry Jeffway and Rena (Moriarty) Jeffway. She attended the University of Massachusetts, obtaining a bachelor's degree in science in chemistry in 1944.

She is survived by her three children, John Mangels, of Wallingford, Paul Mangels, of Milford, and Patty Mangels, of Hamden; two sisters, Loretta Anne Devine, of Rockville Centre, N.Y. and Dorothy Ramsey Stoffa, of Rockport, Mass.; two brothers, Robert Jeffway, of Northampton, Mass., and Thomas Jeffway, of Bristol; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She took great delight in her grandchildren, David Dimauro, Jeffrey Mangels, Christine Jerman and James Jerman. Her life was dedicated to helping others, and her kind spirit and giving nature touched many. She had a great love of music and was member of the choir at St. Barnabas Church for many years and the Greater New Haven Community Chorus for more than 40 years.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Barnabas Church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Easthampton, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Maryknoll Missionaries or the Connecticut Hospice.
